speculation for a drifting garden
<Speculation for a drifting garden>explores the shell lime industry under the context of decolonizing nature and the post-Anthropocene era. It aims to reconnect humans with the planet, combining the technologies accumulated by the human civilization over the past millennia with climate and environmental changes, time, and non-human species.
A series of landscape sculptures made of sea shell plaster, soil, and seaweed, formed as a human garden within the areas where it is proven to be influenced by climate change. In the future, this artificially created garden will be eventually submerged due to the rising of sea levels, and the sunken sculptures will become an ideal habitat for its surrounding creatures.
Materials extracted and served for humans in the past will return to nature and serve as a biodiversity hotspot that can promote the symbiosis of various species altogether with the birth of new ones.
